The light capture in your piece

Each diamond is unique! Though, it is very important to choose the best diamond for your perfect piece. The jewelry pieces I create are made with diamonds classified above the G color grade and a Vvs1 range of clarity.

The universe of precious gemstones amazes me. I will be honored to talk to you about this universe and its incredibly interesting features.

I prepared this content so that you could understand better about the classification:

Diamonds are the purest element on Earth. It is the only stone composed of only one element: 99.95% carbon, 0,05% of other elements included which can influence the color. Diamonds are formed around 160,934km below the earth’s surface. They are formed by high temperature and
pressure. Its structural composition is isometric, which means that they grow evenly in many directions.

What we behold, is the brightness obtained after processes of lapidation and polishing of this carbon structure.

What are the characterístics of a diamond allowing it to obtain the higher qualities that dictate its value?

Analysis factors: the 4Cs, employed by GIA (Gemological Institute of America) since 1950 compose a global language to verify the quality of a diamond. I have to mention that 2 thousand years ago, in India, three of these factors had already been established: color, brightness, and weight.

Color: high influence on price: D, E, and F are the most transparent and colorless groups. Followed by
groups G, H, I, J, and the classification continues for other colors reaching the final category Z.

Brightness: A beautiful diamond presents a reflective effect of the white light (called “sparkle”), flashes of color (called “fire”), and areas of light and darkness called “shine”. Clarity: Vvz (very very slightly imperfect), Vs, SI, I. Diamonds have “inclusions”, some of these inclusions may cause more or less
depreciation of the diamonds’ value depending on: place, size, nature, and color.

Weight: weight and price are not correlated: diamond weight is measured in carat (1ct=100 points, 1 point = 0,01ct), e.g.: a 50 point diamond had 0,05ct, 1ct=0,2g.

Cut: The types of cuts are classified as “Excellent”, “Very Good”, “Good”, “Fair”, “Poor”. This evaluation measure contains the most important aspect once the cut is evaluated by its proportion, symmetry, and polishing so that when they are well done they influence the diamond’s sparkle: this sparkle comes from the light show created by its proportions.

This was a short introduction to the 4Cs. Another question that many clients have is: what is the difference between a diamond and a brilliant? Every brilliant is a diamond with 58 facets and a round cut. Diamonds can have other types of measures.
